Rotary shaft encoder monitors slide gate position

4B Components has introduced the Encoder-Flex 1024 rotary shaft encoder that uses leading technology to monitor slide gate position.

The compact design is said to be easy to use and easy to calibrate. Specifications include 1 to 1024 programmable pulses per revolution with up to 500,000 rotations and 4 to 20 mA input.

Suitable for retrofit or new installations, the units feature quadrature pulse (speed/relative rotation), and Modbus RTU output.

Users can know the precise position of their gate (0 to 100% open), the company says. The stainless steel enclosed rotary encoder memorizes shaft position in the event of power loss.
